Lions International has an illustrious history dating to 1917. Today, there are more than 1.4 million Lions in 190 countries and geographic areas worldwide.
The ideal is one of service to the community without regard to race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, national origin or the personal interest of the member.
In 1925, Helen Keller challenged the Lions to a “crusade against darkness.” Since that day, Lions throughout the world have been tireless in their help for the blind and the visually impaired.
The Pleasantville Lions Club was chartered in 1931 with a strong emphasis on service to our local community, especially to the visually impaired and the critically ill patients at the Rosary Hill Home. The Pleasantville Lions Club raises money to support the Club’s various charitable activities. The Club contributes to both local worthy causes and people in need worldwide.
